AN ANIMAL
TALE
Frogs are anphibians. They usually lay their eggs in the spring. When the
eggs hatch, tiny tadpoles are born. The tadpoles grow and develo into frogs
through a process called metamorphosis. By summer- time, they have become four-
legged adults.
Frogs live between 4 and 24 years, depending on the species. They have
very special skin- they don`t just wea it, they drink and breathe through it.
So frogs have to take care of their skin so that they don`t suffocate. They do
this by regulary shedding it, that is, a new skin grows and the old one peels
off.
Frogs have long, sticky tongues, which they roll out lik a carpet to
catch insects. They can jump long distances – the longest distance recorded is
10 meters. If you touch a frog, it feels cold and slimy.
